INTERVIEW: Trenton And Free Radical

RHV: Tell us who you are and where you're from?.
My name is Trenton and I come from Johannesburg, I grew up in Kenya, Nigeria and Bahrain. The rest of the band are from Ibiza, Uganda and Zimbabwe

RHV: Describe your music.
Our music is hybrid - a mix reggae, hip hop, electro and afro-beat

RHV: Tell us how the band formed in three sentences.
It was a pretty organic process. I employed our guitarist Marco at a company I was working at and we became friends, Kaz our bass player was playing some of his solo stuff at a gig we were both doing and we persuaded him to join, Sam was introduced to us through a Zimbabwean friend of mine.

RHV: What did you do before you were in a band?
I worked at a power station for a while, ran a record label, worked for marketing agencies putting on brand events.


RHV: List the first CDs/records each of you bought.
Madness, Adam and the Ants, Public Enemy, Bob Marley

RHV: What's the band up to over the next few months?
We're about to go into the studio with producers dean Heart (Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Nitin Sawni) and Craigie Dodds (Sugarbabes, Natty) to record our album

RHV: Best item of fan mail you've ever received?
A figurine of dad from the Incredables

RHV: What music do you have on repeat in the tourbus?
Michael Franti, Jay Z, Korn, Nightmares on Wax, High Contrast

RHV: What gear do you use?
Fender Bass and Gibson Les Paul Classic and Gibson ES135 Guitars, Rom Peddles -Dr Scietist - Reverberator, Sunny Day delay, cry baby, ID 800, Sure mikes, Romany guitar amp,
