Introducing… El Wristo

NAME: El Wristo

GENRE: Indie / Pop / Alternative

SOUNDS LIKE: a shaken-up new take on those nostalgic afternoons sifting through your favourite old CDs.

LOCATION: Bath / Bristol, UK

LINE UP: After a bit of a shift around with band members old and new, El Wristo are now: Amy (vocals, guitar) / Kim (bass) / Cliff (guitar) / Ed (drums)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: With a mutual love of bands such as Weezer, Sonic Youth and the Pixies, a group of like-minded West Country kids got together in 2007 to form the ass-kicking El Wristo. Chopping and changing their line-up along the journey that brought them to the Grand Final of ‘Moles Battle Of The Bands’, coverage on BBC Radio Bristol and being championed by everyone from ‘Rhythm’ magazine to ‘Total Guitar’ has served them well. Amy, Kim, Cliff and Ed now stand united before you to rock out 2010.

RELEASES: Three new great tracks have recently been added to their MySpace page. Check out ‘Sick’, ‘Purple Circles’ and ‘Magic Roundabout’.

GIGS: El Wristo have been doing the rounds in their native Bath and will be coming to a town near you soon – watch this space!

THEY SAY: “El Wristo set about writing songs with no aim other than that they shouldn’t sound anything like Scouting For Girls or Foals. They like loud guitars and songs without proper names. They don’t like taking themselves too seriously. And despite common misconceptions, the name El Wristo has nothing to do with masturbation…”

WE SAY: A failsafe bunch of tracks for lovers of nostalgic indie-pop.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: …you’re still rocking nineties classics such as Elastica and Pavement on your stereo.
