Introducing… The Skanx

NAME: The Skanx

GENRE: Ska/Funk

SOUNDS LIKE: A pick me up for life. Ska/funky happy, happy, joy, joy tunes only able to be produced by an 11 piece band full of character.

LOCATION: London, UK

LINE UP: Lori (Vox) Wayne (Vox) Paul (Drums) Tom (Bass) Nick (Guitar) Simon (Keys) Ratt (Sax) Joe (Sax) Steve (Sax) Stuart (Trumpet/percussion) Wendy (Trumpet)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: An 11 piece band from South London who are making names for themselves the more they play the London circuit. Often to be found at the Worlds End in Finsbury Park and anywhere allowing dancing.

RELEASES: Currently in the studio

GIGS: 12th December at the Gypsy Hill Tavern, London and the 14th December at the Made From Scratch launch party, The Gramaphone, Shoreditch

THEY SAY: ”11 musicians with the shared love of making people dance! … known for getting the crowd up dancing and making the room rock…”

WE SAY: Even those who don’t like ska or funk will reconsider after hearing a song by this talented bunch. You won’t be able to help yourself from tapping your feet and dancing like a loon, spilling whatever you have in your hand over yourself and anyone in your vicinity. It’s like being a kid in a bouncy castle, with candy floss, balloons… or rather like being an adult in a bouncy castle with friends, smiles and good times.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: you like smiling, a lot, and dancing like a complete idiot and not feeling like the only one.
