Introducing… Trippy Wicked & the Cosmic Children of the Knight
December 21, 2009 by RED
NAME: Trippy Wicked & the Cosmic Children of the Knight
GENRE: D.I.Y, experimental, sexy, sleazy, stoner, doom Blues Metal
SOUNDS LIKE: Down tempo blues riffs with spaced out effects and a witty edge
LOCATION: London & Hertfordshire, UK
LINE UP: Trippy Pierre (vocals / guitar), Dicky Wicked (bass guitar), Chris West (drums)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Prior to their formation as a three-piece, the members of Trippy Wicked all stirred loud vibrations throughout the Multiverse. Even as a teenager, front man Trippy Pierre was heavy metal all the way, playing tuba during his teens whilst drummer Chris West strummed blues guitar and bassist-to-be Dicky Wicked marched a converging path to the beat of his drums. Pierre and West worked together on early material, releasing ‘Imaginarianism’ as a two-piece whilst Dicky’s former group Old Crone was gradually deteriorating. They all rehearsed at Hertfordshire’s Farm Factory Studios where Dicky was at hand to breathe the low-end life into the line up after Old Crone passed away. They began gigging immediately and, being sensitive to each other’s roles as floating musicians, they discovered a super tight sound with Pierre on guitar and vocals, Dicky on bass and West on drums.
RELEASES: Recorded in Dorset at Chuckalumba Studios, the self-released ‘Moving On’ album is available now from all good digital retailers. See below for details.
GIGS: Having spaced out The Horn Reborn in St.Albans earlier this month (see our featured live review), the band also play various venues in Camden and London, Birmingham and Hertfordshire. They plan to tour up to Glasgow next year.
THEY SAY: “Trippy Wicked & the Cosmic Children of the Knight are a rolling, thundering mass of infectious grooves, distorted, gut-busting bass, tripped out vocals, relentless beats and hairy, sweaty faces twisted with grins and gurns! Get lost in the loving arms of a full figured riff.”
WE SAY: The knight who fathered these cosmological kids is certainly guilty of sowing wild oats…Trippy Wicked are a bearded ensemble of natural musicians who gush out unadulterated and gradually inflating, sleazy riffs under a blanket of depraved lyrical themes. They deliver virile material, which is naked in humour, stiff in groove and full of spunk. By spraying guitars with quivering modulation effects and perverting vocals with pulsating delays, they positively abuse a seminal blues riff formula and conceive down tempo numbers which are balls deep and pounding from the first treble clef onwards and yet still manage to surge with momentum and climax with orgasmic crescendo. Guitars are penetrating, drum skins throb, bass is long and slow and vocals wake the neighbors! Dip in the occasional horn and this is a curious, experimental, rocking, gangbang of dirty Blues Metal.
