Colin Blunstone: New Album and Solo Tour

One for the older generation this. Colin Blunstone is probably older than your parents, though if you were, like me, unfortunate enough to have parents with annoyingly bad music tastes, you may well have been tortured by the aging singer/songwriters skin-crawling music before now. Does the song “What becomes of the broken hearted” mean anything to you? Boring? Correct. To give him his due though, he does possess a wonderfully wispy voice that chimes with charm, but its the words that come with it that make you want to hit him with a brick.

The front man to classic rock outfit The Zombies has had a career spanning almost fifty years, which is a long time to be this shit, but as it is he has forged a decent living out of being a musician – which for me only serves to prove the alarming number of musically ignorant people moping around clueless among the general public. Blunstone though is not the worst pop artist you would want to strangle. No that bequest falls to Cliff Richard, but given Blunstone has been added to my list might give you an idea of the calibre were talking about here.

Regardless, Blunstone has seen fit to haunt us with another album, ‘The Ghost of Me and You’ presumably for the 334 friends he has on his myspace – which to be honest, after almost 50 years is not a lot of fans is it! However, the St. Albans wonder will soldier on and scotch them for £16.50 adv. tickets or £18 on the door when he performs around the country on a gruelling ten date tour between the 11 and 24 February. For that price you could get a couple of decent albums. Still, if you’re daft enough, or intrigued to hear him after this glowing review, contact the box office on 08702 643 333 or visit www.rhythmat.com and click on a few links.
