Gallows Announce ‘Grey Britain’ Leg Of Tour
Gallows, whirling out of Watford with a sound harsh enough to shear the tubby gut of ‘pop’ from pop-punk, have revealed the title for their sophomore album. Appropriately English in its self depreciating lack of patriotism, the album will be dubbed ‘Grey Britain’. The name conjures a 1980’s sense of discontent and Thatcherism quite appropriate to the punk movement Gallows belong to.
Sophomore albums are always interesting, you can tell a lot about a band from the difference between their first release and their second. Debuts tend to have had years of idea fermentation, improvement and evolution behind them. But when a band begins work on their sophomore, it is the first time they work under any real time constraint. They must force ideas out, and often these premature births result in some pretty ugly babies. It will be interesting to see if Gallows have floundered or flourished under the time restraints that come with writing the second album.
Hopefully ‘Grey Britain’ will retain the raw production quality of their 2006 release ‘Orchestra of Wolves’. Gallows will be working with legendary producer Garth ‘GGGarth’ Richardson, and with such an extensive repertoire behind him (
