INTERVIEW: Buster Shuffle

RHV: Tell us how the band formed in three sentences.
We were already mates, working in different bands at the time. Jet decided he wanted to form a Rock n roll band and got the boys together for a play. It worked immediately and so we started writing and gigging in east London pretty well straight away.

1. Tell us who you are and where you’re from.
Buster Shuffle from east London (Hackney)

2. Describe your music.
Cockney Ska Rock n Roll.

3. Tell us how the band formed in three sentences.
We were already mates, working in different bands at the time. Jet decided he wanted to form a Rock n roll band and got the boys together for a play. It worked immediately and so we started writing and gigging in east London pretty well straight away.

4. What are you doing over the next few months?
Gigging, rehearsing, and writing more songs. We will also be drinking in many a lovely London pub. And eating too much curry and playing a bit of football too. Did we mention that we should be gigging and writing as well.

6. Best item of fan mail you’ve ever received?
Jet: I got a lovely letter from Tezza’s mum, but he doesn’t know about it so keep schtum.

7. What music do you have on repeat in the tourbus?
Chas N Dave. RIP and The Specials and Art Brut (but not Wings)

8. Any funny stories from when you’ve been on tour?
Tez had been drinking all night in a hotel bar once when the night porter found him relieving himself into the cigarette machine. When the porter said ‘Sir, the toilet is just around the corner’, he replied ‘I know but I can’t stop mid flow!’ We got fined for that.

9. What is the best thing about being in your band?
The double bass.
