BEATLEMANIA Museum Opens in ‘Beatles Other Home’

“I was born in Liverpool, but came of age in Hamburg” –John Lennon

Indra, Top Ten, Kaiserkeller, Star Club – these were the clubs on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg / Germany, where in the early 1960s the young and just-formed Beatles honed their skills onstage daily, for up to nine hours at a time, and from where they went on to conquer the world. From Friday May 29th the Beatles will once again have a home in Hamburg, in the place where it all began, their other home – the Reeperbahn, just a guitar’s throw from the recently inaugurated Beatles Square and the venues in which they once performed. A unique spectacle dedicated to the Liverpool band is opening its doors: BEATLEMANIA Hamburg.

Visitors to BEATLEMANIA can travel through time, re-living the world of the Beatles. Over 1300 square metres, the breath-taking visual cornucopia has everything to offer: A fascinating experience using extraordinary displays of original memorabilia and unconventional presentations transporting us through all eras of the Beatles’ career -from Hamburg’s glorious days, up until their break-up. Visitors are spoilt for choice as they follow the band during their wild times in Hamburg, record songs at Abbey Road Studios, experience the madness of Beatlemania at its peak, and go diving with Captain Fred in the Yellow Submarine.

An adventure of interactive imagery and musical mayhem awaits you, as you enter the Fab Four’s world of global domination. With permanent displays, special showcases, concerts, readings and fashion parades, the world’s latest entertainment event will ensure wide-eyed visitors become immersed for hours, in the world of the mushroom-heads.

If the creator’s dreams are fulfilled, the project will grow into an important part of the Hamburg culture and exhibition landscape, a permanent fixture helping to develop the area of St Pauli, spanning cultures and generations. This potential is a definite reality: the Beatles continue to fascinate the world – strong sales of Beatles music, videos and DVDs are sound proof of this, as is the constant flow of tourists travelling to Hamburg for that special Beatles experience.

BEATLEMANIA is located right in the heart of the world-famous Reeperbahn, which is undergoing a constant transformation from a former red-light district to a cool entertainment, cultural and musical setting. Forty-nine years ago, Hamburg launched from here the international career of one of the most important rock bands of all time, The Beatles. Today, Hamburg continues this rich tradition as a springboard for bold, new international talent with the annual Reeperbahn Festival. For three nights in September, the world-renowned rock clubs of Hamburg’s Reeperbahn district are taken over by scores of young bands from around the world, hoping that the city will work the same magic on their musical aspirations.

On May 29th, BEATLEMANIA will be open to the public. Entry will cost 12 Euro for adults, concession 9 Euro. Families (parents and their children) will pay 35 Euro. Visitors who purchase their tickets online or by telephone may enter the exhibition immediately without waiting in queue. True to the Beatles song “Eight Days A Week”, BEATLEMANIA will be open daily from 10am until 10pm.
