BRISTOL FOLK FESTIVAL GETS ITS OWN RADIO SHOW

Bristol Folk Festival, returning to the city after an incredible 32 years next spring is to get its own radio show in the new year. The Bristol Folk Festival’s Folk Music Show will air every Tuesday evening in the countdown to the revived festival, starting on January 4.

The BCFM show, which will continue right up to the week of the festival, will be presented by Steve Parkhouse and Ruth Biziou who will play the music of headliners and other festival-bound artists -and much more besides.

The hour-long show will hit the airwaves at 8pm every Tuesday and is available on 93.2 fm or online via www.bcfm.org.uk

The indoor “weatherproof” festival will run for three days at Colston Hall over the May Bank Holiday weekend (Friday, April 29-Sunday, May 1) – the first day coinciding with the Royal Wedding which has prompted the planning of extra festival celebrations.

Headliners already announced are Show of Hands on the Saturday and Bellowhead on the Sunday. The festival’s hot property patron, the Mercury Prize nominee Seth Lakeman will headline on the opening Friday – now also Royal Wedding day.

Early Bird tickets for the Bristol folk bonanza are already on sale from Colston Hall at the special price of £60 for the three days (concessions £50). As well as award-winning artists, the festival will feature a multitude of Morris dancers, mummers and maypoles, ceilidhs, “posh loos” and indoor camping!
