Cherry Ghost new single!

In 2007, Cherry Ghost’s debut album, ‘Thirst for Romance’ revealed the potential of what this extraordinary group could do. Their widescreen, wondrous songs went on to garner ubiquitous acclaim and lead single ‘People Are The People’, won an Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song in 2008.

New single ‘Black Fang’ taken from the critically lauded sophomore album ‘Beneath This Bruning Shoreline’ sees the band at their rollicking gothic best with a track that is sure to trouble the Ivor Novello judges once again. Imagine a baroque take on The Velvet Underground but with Aldred’s dusty crooned vocals in place of lou Reeds NYC drawl, uplifting strings, cascading piano and synthesizers are arranged with aplomb, to provide a surging euphoric edge, while lyrically the song is tantalizingly ambiguous (“Be my midnight swimmer, I will be your sea-salt lips/ be my cold blood killer, I will be your fingertips”). Who or what Black Fang is unclear but what is indisputable, is that ‘Black Fang’ is romantic symphonic pop music at it’s very best.

The new album ‘Beneath This Burning Shoreline’ (out now) was released to rave reviews across the music press and newspapers and it’s easy to see why, awash with a magical splendour, it is the sound of Cherry Ghost taking the spirit of their past, and ours, with them, and revealing their beauty in the brilliant present.

Cherry Ghost have just finished a succession of dates as main support to the Doves and will be joining the Coral for a string of live dates this summer as well as more festival dates to be announced. A full UK headline tour will follow in the autumn.

21st – Staffordshire, V Festival
22nd – Chelmsford, V Festival
