DZ DEATHRAYS RELEASE NEW SINGLE NORTHERN LIGHTS

After releasing their ARIA award winning debut LP ‘Bloodstreams’ in 2012, DZ Deathrays have spent the last eighteen months touring the world ferociously, proving to critics and fans alike why there’s so much fuss around their brand of thrash party music, spawned from the house party scene of Brisbane. Today DZ Deathrays are happy to present the first taste of their forthcoming sophomore LP (scheduled for the first half of 2014) in the form of a new single titled ‘Northern Lights’.

For Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley, the last two years have been something of a whirlwind. Clocking up the miles while recording their debut LP with Richard Pike, the band then went onto tour the world with acts like the Foo Fighters, Crystal Castles, Sleigh Bells, Cerebral Ballzy and make festival appearances at Reading & Leeds (UK), SXSW (USA), A Perfect Day Festival (ITA), Laneway Festival (AUS), Falls Festival (AUS), Splendour in the Grass (AUS) and more.

After all of the above, DZ Deathrays found themselves back in Australia, beginning work on demos for their sophomore LP in the country town of Yass. Ideas quickly flowed, leading to the band entering the studio with producer Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine, The Horrors, Sigur Ros) while in the UK to headline NME Magazine’s party at The Great Escape Festival in May, resulting in a single track titled ‘Northern Lights’.

DZ Deathrays are gearing up to get back into the studio this December and January to finish recording album two, before heading out on tour for the 2014 Big Day Out (alongside acts such as Blur, Arcade Fire, Pearl Jam and Major Lazer) and heading back to the UK and North America.
