Ex-Mohair frontman releases solo debut

Tom Billington – Make No Bones released on 24th May via Daddy Max Records.

Having been in a band for 10 years previously but only managing to release one record, Tom Billington’s frustration as a songwriter was palpable. This is the beginning of the reaction.

Through channelling these life and musical experiences instead of trying to force the effect, ‘Make No Bones’ fuses influences from traditional folk to classical via Neil Young and Leonard Cohen and begins to deal with a life lived rather than a life imagined.

Billington has rediscovered the joy and catharsis of song writing as well as taking full responsibility for the project from arrangements and production through to booking the gigs, driving the van and indeed, packaging and releasing it to the world.

“…a solo album is a solo album… it’s about finding out the truth about the potential inside of me so I can finally begin to start moving forward again”

‘Make No Bones ‘ was recorded completely live at Rockfield Studios in Wales between 11th-14th January 2010, with a room full of musicians he’s met and admired along the way.

Mastered at Abbey Road with an old school friend the day after the last chord was struck, the result is an honest, positive coming of age story full of hope, captured like a photograph rather than painstakingly layered and tweaked to within an inch of its life.

This story is only the first chapter for Tom Billington.
