FOSTERCARE Vs †‡† (RITUALZ)

†‡† Vs. Fostercare is the latest release from east London indie, Robot Elephant Records (Husband, ISVOLT). A split LP demonstrating the newest material from two innovative acts of the current dance music scene; Fostercare and †‡† (Ritualz) together, sharing space on one piece of wax, back to back.

Fostercare is the alias of Brooklynite Marc Jason. A short stint in London, late December 2010, saw him gain well-disposed attention from such tastemakers as Dazed & Confused, WORD Magazine, i:D and The Quietus, to name but a few.

An eremitic perfectionist, Fostercare – who adopted his pseudonym from a Burial song – aims to carve a distinct niche between 80ies Dark Wave, 90ies dance music, Industrial and Crunk. What can initially sound like a confusing clash of genres makes complete sense on record, with Fostercare showcasing his yet undiscovered lyrical skills and distinct rapping style, to reveal a dark, disturbing world of pretence, sexual exploitation, violence and suicide, within the city of New York. Fostercare is set to refresh the dusty corners of electronic music.

†‡† Aka. Ritualz hails from Mexico and despite preferring to stay reclusive and obscure, has managed to build a respectable reputation in under a year. Not long after posting his first track on MySpace, Disaro Records offered to release his debut EP. †‡†’s standout track Misery Walk was recently featured on Robot Elephant Records, Disaro Witch House compilation -ISVOLT, opening him up globally, to a wider audience

Admirers of †‡† include Witch House originator Pictureplane and LA’s noise-rock four-piece HEALTH, who have included †‡† tracks in several mix tapes, including most recently for VICE Magazine. The ‘Dark Raver’, as he is sometimes known, effortlessly showcases his Ibiza-ready dance-floor tunes, with dark brooding noise drones; shoe-gaze aesthetics and hip hop beats, showing all rules are made to be broken.
