‘The Great Enlightenment’ is the new single from Israeli singer-songwriter Geva Alon, released on June 18th through 2B Vibes Music/ADA Global.
Taken from his forthcoming album ‘In The Morning Light’, produced by Thom Monahan (Devendra Banhart, Vetiver, Silver Jews), ‘The Great Enlightenment’ is a dreamy, Americana influenced track from the guitar maestro. Echoing the vocal styles of Neil Young and the virtuosity of Nick Drake, whilst taking influence from American indie artists including Band of Horses and Fleet Foxes, ‘In The Morning Light’ nods to folk and hazy psychedelia resulting in a sound that is truly Geva’s own.
‘In The Morning Light’ will be the fourth album from Geva Alon and features the talents of Otto Hauser Daniel Hindman of Vetiver and Rufus Wainwright’s bassist Jeff Hill. Already a huge name in his native Israel, Geva Alon has performed alongside the likes of Paul Weller and Yo La Tengo and performed in front over 100,000 people in Rabin’s square in Tel Aviv as part of Earth Day. Geva has also recently toured Spain and Israel alongside Depedro – the new project from Calexico collaborator Jairo Zavala.
Of the track, Geva Alon says: “The Great Enlightenment is an old song of mine that I somehow revisited before the making of my new album. I made some changes in the harmonies and rewrote the lyrics and thought that it fitted perfectly in the album. The way it turned out, it became one of my favorite tracks on the record.”
The single release will be supported by a full UK tour, taking in four dates in the South of England. Starting in Brighton on 20th June, the tour will see Geva returning to London to play The Borderline on June 21st.
‘The Great Enlightenment’ is released on June 18th followed by the album ‘In The Morning Light’ on July 16th.
