Huw Stephens announces Stagecoach to play Reading and Leeds

STAGECOACH will be playing BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals, as announced by Huw Stevens on Radio 1

Stagecoach are a band from various villages in the Surrey hills. They started out as a two-piece, then added a member every year until they felt they could comfortably rock a stadium. Stagecoach wanted to make country music, but things evolved around the time they rediscovered their tape collections from 1993. Their songs are about the usual stuff: Hot dogs, chess leagues, Buffy. Their new EP ‘Crash my Ride’ is out NOW on Alcopop. They will also be playing at the Reading and Leeds festivals on the BBC Introducing stage, as announced by Huw Stevens last night on Radio 1 (28th July).

Front man and guitarist Luke said: ‘We’re turbo excited to on a bill with Paramore and Phoenix, I didn’t think I’d be saying that so soon! It’s really cool Huw Stephens asked us along and a great chance to play to a ton of new people’

In addition to Reading and Leeds the guys are happy to announce some new live dates, kicking off proceedings next week with Sky Larkin

Live Dates:
8th Aug – Kingston New Slang @ The Hippodrome w/ Sky Larkin
10th Sept – End of the Road Festival
18th Sept – Southsea Festival
25th Sept – Underground Festival

The guys recently played a load of one off UK shows (around the recording of ‘Crash My Ride’), an in-store at Pure Groove to celebrate the 2nd birthday of The 405 website, played the recent Great Escape including a show with Sharks in a barebershop which Huw Stevens rated as the best at the whole festival.

They’ve also played 2010 Live at Leeds with band pal and fan Darwin Deez (as well as We Have Band and Wilder) and have toured with the likes of Phoenix, The Wombats, Frightened Rabbit, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Bishop Allen, Algernon Cadwallader and Kevin Devine.

You also might have heard them on BBC One’s 2009 Gavin and Stacey Christmas / New Year specials. Channel 4 also used them on season 2 of Skins. Their debut EP ‘We Got Tazers’ (out in 2009) was supported across Radio 1, 6Music, XFM, NME Radio and assorted BBC Regional stations. Alcopop! also released their super-limited Christmas EP ‘The Holy Spirit’ which features nice acoustic tracks and sick xmas jumpers.

Track listing for ‘Crash my Ride’ is:
1. Hieroglyphics
2. Map To The Freezer
3. Axe Behind My Back
4. Good! Great! Better! Best!
5. Headbangers Ball
6. Fish Tank Glow
