Sounds like The Lion King to us….

Formed in 2006 the band have established themselves on the live circuit in South London and the South East. An ever increasing fan base follow the band from gig to gig. Sun Kissed Planet is the result of fans demanding the single be released officially due to the live reaction to one of the most infectious singles you are likely to hear. A style described as ‘having enough energy to reanimate corpses’.

Kakuzi’s first EP ‘Senses’ was an indicator as to what would come in future years, taking influence from acts such as Radiohead, Faithless and Muse. Over the next year the band became more focused and other members of the band became more involved with lead singer Lucas in the writing process. Word was quickly spreading about a band who fuse a mix of instruments and sounds to create an original sound, invites to local festivals followed and the following year saw the introduction of new bass player Alex and the release of a new EP ‘Corridors’ which was met with open arms from an now increasing fan base.

2009 was a critical year in the life of the band. They holed up in a studio in Wales working on new material, despite having a huge back catalogue of songs the band wanted to evolve further, mixing new techniques and influences from Leftfield to MGMT and Coldplayinto the identity of the band.

The result? A clutch of new songs that were aired at local gigs in the South East and the reaction was unanimous…the live show was completely unforgettable, leaving fans demanding more, leaving them demanding the Sun Kissed Planet track as a single! An appearance at the O2 Surface Unsigned Festival soon followed and a remarkable 2009 was capped in October when they signed with Major-G.

Kakuzi are : Alastair Lawrenson (synths) / Alexander Mackworth Praed (bass) / David Medlicott (drums) / Ross McLennan (guitar) / Lucas O’Neill (vocals / guitar)
