MAIN REVIEW:
Outside of Brighton’s Concorde 2 this chilly Friday evening, the air is filled with the incessant drone of double kick drum and wailing operatic vocals. The culprits are Canadian heavy metal upstarts Kobra and the Lotus, an odd choice perhaps to be opening for the straight-up Sunset Strip headliners Buckcherry, but nonetheless they are a promising and very tight new outfit who are sure to do well. By the end of their set the crowd are beginning to agree.

After arriving on stage – well-dressed, tattooed up and raring to go – Buckcherry launch straight into their opening number ‘Ridin’ from their second album ‘Time Bomb’. Concorde 2 comes to life as the crowd – of whom most are also glammed up to the nines – gets straight into it and respond to lead singer Josh Todd’s every action.
Never one to disappoint, the band, who seem to have relentlessly toured every year of late, play a stonking set laced with firm fan favorites, ‘Everything’ ‘Lit Up’ and ‘For The Movies’. They even take the time to tell the Brighton audience how much they love playing here – probably hoping most of them don’t notice the piece of paper taped in front of Josh letting him know which town he is in! The start of an extended version of ‘Crazy Bitch’ signals the night is coming to an end but the Hollywood quintet stretch it out enough so that everyone has had their fill.
