Memory Tapes release single ‘Graphics’ 18th January via Something In Construction. UK dates.
Having delivered one of 2009’s outstanding releases, the enigmatic Memory Tapes returns in 2010 with a new single AND his debut live dates in the UK.
With new single Graphics Memory Tapes’ cyan grooves have turned icy for the middle of the winter, imbued with a time-lapsed double take – the result is an interstellar journey from the heart of summer into the soul of winter.
“I’ll be your love, I’ll be your friend, I’ll be a part of the illusion…” Graphics tells a pixelated love story about the divide between real life and ideal fantasy, set against a cosmic groove. Chunky bass synths revel alongside old-school instrumentation, and the whole thing is glued together with Memory Tapes’ trademark psychedelic vocal stylings.
Cut down from its 6-minute opus on Seek Magic, the Graphics Re-model Edit takes all the extra-good parts and weaves them together into a 3 and half minute retro-futuristic thrill ride. Think of it as choosing to take the wormhole rather than following the scenic route through the galaxy.
Meanwhile Memory Tapes hits UK shores in January for his first UK shows. Support for the London date comes from Pantha du Prince and SIC label mates Fitness Club Fiasco (http://soundcloud.com/illfit/fitness-club-fiasco-forest-city). Further dates to be announced.
JANUARY:
16TH – MANCHESTER – The Corner
20TH – LONDON (w/ Pantha du Prince & Fitness Club Fiasco) – Luminaire
