Moonshot are the musical equivalent of a Polaroid camera issuing a music photograph of the world today. Electronic / Trip Hop outfit Moonshot (Daniel Kent and Richard Wolfe) return with the magical album ‘No Sign Of Morning,’ an LP that continues the band’s prolific output which has produced five albums and two EPs since 2001 – an output so impressive, that upon hearing it, EML Recordings quickly snapped up Moonshot mid 2009 to release current and future recordings.

Sometimes personal, sometimes topical, ‘No Sign Of Morning’ blends strong atmospheres and narratives to create a series of urban tales that provide a snapshot of English life in the early part of the 21st century. The dark and brooding, observational album opener, also titled ‘No Sign Of Morning’ explores the dangers of domestic compromise, and sets off the intended thought provoking feeling that runs throughout the entire album. The successful 2009 single ‘Who Turned The Lights Out?’ looks at bigger issues, and although not intended as a political song, was inspired by countries threatening to cut off power supplies to other nations. The single showcases the enticingly beautiful voice of guest vocalist Clare Portman, and is a strong example of the chilled, atmospheric sound that encapsulates Moonshot in one track. An accompanying video for the single was produced and directed by acclaimed film and music director John James Fox.

Other themes explored in the album include fragility as showcased in ‘Black Box,’ a track examining the length of time it takes to build self confidence and how it can be knocked down in an instant. ‘This is England’ ponders over the complexities and contradictions of the English personality and the way the country has changed so dramatically in the last 50 years whilst ‘The Restraint Of Mary Ann Nichols’ was written from the point of view of one of Jack The Ripper’s victims and showcases a duo in their prime mixing the gritty reality or the darkest areas of life with the sensibility of a beautifully crafted electronic sound.

2010 will see Moonshot return to the studio to record a new album and perform at EML Recordings showcase, with various other media events to be announced shortly. An exclusive ‘winter’ download track will be available in the coming weeks for fans registered on Moonshot’s website.
