RISING UK NEW GUNS UNVEIL KILLER EP!
ESSEX METALCORE FIVESOME, OUR PEOPLE VERSUS YOURS, ARE ALL SET FOR LAUNCH WITH THEIR STUNNING EP ‘LIGHTS’, OUT 21st NOVEMBER THROUGH ALL DIGITAL STORES.
Harnessing influence from the likes of Architects, Norma Jean, and The Chariot, and slyly tipping their caps to the theatrical rock leanings of 30 Seconds To Mars and Linkin Park, Our People Versus Yours fuse the raw and energetic components of Metal with the dynamics and drive of Post-Hardcore; the result is potent, earnest and genuinely alluring.
Formed in 2008, Our People Versus Yours have had to work hard to establish themselves in a musical scene inundated with generic and uninspiring musical clones; in just three short years their achievements are self-evident. The hard-working five-piece have already released two fully fledged EPs – “Here Comes The Flood” (2008) and “Southern Colours” (2010), as well as the mini-EP “Time To Rise” (2010); both EPs received fantastic underground support and have helped to rapidly increase the band’s ever growing fan-base. Accompanied by constant DIY promotion and widespread touring, which has seen the portable five-some notching up key shows with the likes of Deaf Havana, Lower Than Atlantis, This Is Colour, Young Guns, Hopeless, The Elijah and The Ocean Between Us, and aided with a prominent appearance on the Red Bull stage at Hevy festival, the band have deservedly begun to shine brighter than the masses.
Our People Versus Yours will now further etch their mark on the UK scene fuelled by their brand new record “Lights”, which was recorded & mixed by esteemed producer Dan Lancaster (Lower Than Atlantis, We Are The Ocean) at Glass Eye Studios. The enterprising quintet have purposely avoided the highly polished, overly produced route that many bands now take. OPVY opted for a more honest, raw and energetic approach to laying down the EP. The outcome is a captivating record that is organically heavy and intense without resorting to constant breakdowns and needless gimmicks. Far from another simple “screamo” record, “Lights” blends a variety of styles and influences ranging from hardcore and metal to rock and beyond. As a result, Our People Versus Yours are not only winning over an audience once skeptical of “another UK screamo band” but are securing themselves a permanent place in the UK scene as ones to watch in the coming years.
