On Monday night, video games publisher Namco Bandai hosted a preview event for its new game Splatterhouse as part of the Golden Gods heavy metal awards. The game features a heavy metal soundtrack and a number of the bands included on this were at the awards (bands like Five Finger Death Punch!).

Hosted by Steel Panther, the night included live sets by Airbourne, Evile, Skindred and of course Five Finger Death Punch at the O2’s Indigo! The elite of the metal world turned out including Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi.

Splatterhouse is a beat ’em up from Namco Bandai, available on Xbox 360 and PS3. It’s a remake of the original arcade title, which was released in 1988 (the first game to have a parental warning!!)

As with the 1980’s originals, gamers will play as mask wearing Rick, trying to rescue his girlfriend Jennifer, from Dr West. West sends monsters to kidnap Jennifer and in the process they fatally wound Rick. Rick then finds a mask, which once he puts it on, gives him increased strength. He then goes on a hunt to find Jennifer and kill numerous monsters in the process!!
