The Gap Year Riot

THE GAP YEAR RIOT – ‘These Streets Never Sleep’ EP, will be released on June 7 on Nitrogen Records.

With a dynamic and upbeat sound that belies both their youth and the grey industrial blandness of their Glasgow environment, The Gap Year Riot offer up a piano-infused blast of pop punk that positively beams with optimism and self belief.

Their debut EP, entitled ‘These Streets Never Sleep’, was recorded with in-demand producer John Mitchell (Enter Shikari, You Me At Six, Funeral For A Friend) at Outhouse Studios, and perfectly captures the quintet’s emotive and infectious sound. From the multi-layered bounce of opening title track ‘Win Win’, to the darker crunch of ‘Put Down The Knives’, the EP is a tour de force of guitar-led anthems.

During their two year life, The Gap Year Riot have worked tirelessly to develop their sound, their individuality and their live show.

Already a familiar face on the live circuit, (the band have supported scene luminaries like Senses Fail, Twin Atlantic and The Dykeenies), they expect to be out on the road for the rest of 2010.

‘We’re ready to work,’ laughs vocalist Fraser. ‘We just want to take these songs and give as many people as possible the chance to hear them. We are truly proud of them.’

And they start the run of live shows with the following dates:
02/05/10 – O2 Academy 2, Newcastle (w/ Attack!Attack!)
03/05/10 – King Tuts, Glasgow (w/ Attack!Attack!)
04/05/10 – Warehouse, Aberdeen (w/ Attack!Attack!)
