London duo The Sea are set to return to UK shores this year with their single ‘New York’, released on 6th April, taken from their forthcoming album ‘Rooftops’ (Lusty Records). The band have also unveiled a series of live dates, beginning at The Barfly, London on March 6th.
‘New York’ is a soaring, sing-a-long anthem. With its rousing horn section and huge chorus, the track was written to be heard and performed live.
The Sea received critical acclaim with their debut album ‘Get It Back’ and the single ‘Love Love Love’ and have since enjoyed success overseas, headlining tours and festivals across Europe, including Musikschutzgebiet Festival in Germany and Kuahgartn Open Air Festival Switzerland. Having spent much of the past two years touring relentlessly across Europe, America and Canada, the band are now gearing up to release their second album ‘Rooftops’, produced by John Cornfield (Muse, Supergrass, Oasis).
The Sea recently showcased new tracks at Eurosonic Festival and are hugely looking forward to performing them in venues across the UK:
“Rooftops was a long time coming and recording, we wanted to make a record that didn’t sound restricted by a two piece format but was still just the two of us, if the track need strings or horns or whatever it got it…we wanted to make it sound big…we can’t wait to get it out there and play it in the UK we’re extremely excited about 2012”
The Sea combine raw blues with anthemic rock to create infectious, melodic tracks – the staple sound found throughout the forthcoming ‘Rooftops’. Wanting to build on the sound laid down on their debut, ‘Rooftops’ combines a heady mix of huge sounding anthems with broad and innovative instrumentation.
The band is comprised of brothers Peter (vocals, guitar, piano) and Alex D’Chisholme (vocals, drums). Fiercely independent, The Sea set up their own label, Lusty Records, which the band established as a platform to release their music on their own terms. The band have shared the staged with the likes of Muse, The Kills and Gossip and played many UK festivals, including Glastonbury.
The single ‘New York’ will be released digitally on 9th April through Lusty Records. The album ‘Rooftops’ is scheduled for release 7th May.
