Two Spot Gobi release brand new album ‘The Sun Will Rise’ May 16th 2011

Two Spot Gobi’s new album ‘The Sun Will Rise’ will be released on May 16th 11, on IRL. The Brighton sextet’s forthcoming release was recorded with legendary producer Niko Bolas (Neil Young, John Mayer, Regina Spektor) in the heat of the California sun at the home of Grammy Award winning artist Jason Mraz.

The sun certainly shines through Two Spot Gobi’s sound. Their own brand of feel-good surf pop is a refreshing blend of the traditional and the innovative. Their unusual instrumentation adds trumpet and cello to bass, drums, guitar and the assured vocals of charismatic frontman James Robinson.

Taking an organic approach to their sound, each instrument was recorded together in a live setting, reflecting the intensity and growing reputation of their live shows. Their touring schedule has seen them perform in the US and UK alongside artists such as Bruno Mars, Newton Faulkner and Michael Buble, and play for party guests including Paris Hilton, Slash and Olivia Newton John at a post Oscars event in Beverley Hills hosted by US chat show host Leeza Gibbons.

‘The Sun Will Rise’ features ten stellar examples of their melodic and captivating summery anthems and their thought provoking lyrics deliver poignant messages of hope and prosperity for these challenging times.

James says: “The underlying message with this album is positivity. We wanted people to relate to the subject matter, but after that it’s all about feeling good. We have always tried to convey strong messages in our work and music is such a powerful vehicle for that. Our time spent in California completing this record was some of the most important time for us together as a band and as friends and we want people to take away a piece of the joy that we experienced when they listen to these songs.”

Further displaying the band’s enthusiasm for all things musical, Two Spot Gobi have recently begun their ‘Music Set Free’ programme, in which they give a series of music and songwriting workshops within secondary schools to highlight the importance of music in our lives, encourage creativity and inspire young musicians. The band will embark upon a full ‘Music Set Free’ school tour in conjunction with their UK tour to support the release of ‘The Sun Will Rise’.

“We are immensely pleased with this album,” says James. “We feel that for the first time we have managed to capture what this band is all about and we cannot wait to share it with everyone and anyone who wants to listen.”
