Velvet Star – Velvet Star

NAME: Velvet Star
EP: Velvet Star
YEAR: 2010
LABEL: Self Released
RATING: 2/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Its Rock n Roll Like!

LOCATION: UK

LINE UP: Vocals – Danny Jones, Bass – Corey Jones, Lead Guitar – Sam Garner, Rhythm Guitar – Adrian Lamming, Drums – Jase

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Yorkshire Rock n Rollers release new EP and inject a bit more fun and life into the British music scene.

SOUNDS LIKE: You can tell Velvet Star like to rock, and their sound recalls such afterthoughts as stadium metal and glam. ‘Something About You’ may be unimpressive but they find their swing with ’15 Minutes’, racing on like a G’n’R’s tune. It’s all very cock-rock like, and not very original, playing on the party-hard attitude heavily. ‘Rockstar//Superstar’ has a more classic rock shuffle to it, expanding their sound and keeping interest up. Overall it’s stereotypical and plodding, with the odd moment of surprise and originality.
