Ashdowne – A Warning To The Curious

Band: Ashdowne
Album: A Warning To The Curious
Label: none
Year: 2008
Rating: 4/5

Sweeping and dramatic, Ashdowne amalgamate distortion, emotion and vision. The four lads from Leicester show their musicality on debut release ‘A Warning To The Curious’. The cart-wheeling guitar leads in ‘Breathe Out / Falling Stars’ are instantly memorable, whilst cello parts gently soothe a number of tracks into a thought-provoking lull. Originality is hard to come by these days, and Ashdowne don’t manage it either. What they have created, however, is an album of lush, well-produced songs.
