WHAT’S THE STORY?: Babyhead’s new single Jungle Law might make a good Eurovision song – not because it’s poppy and dreadful, but because on first hearing it’s extremely catchy and you find yourself bopping along to it like a loon. Babyhead are all about the Jamaican rhythms, and this song is like a speeded-up, dancey reggae track. It’s enjoyable and will stick in your head. But guess what? The second time you listen to it you realise that there’s not much to it. The third time you realise that, apart from the chorus (“Jungle laaaaaaaw!”) which is repeated over and over again, the lyrics of the song are barely audible and not very interesting. So, in summary, it’s a cool enough rhythm and chorus, but won’t hold your attention for more than a couple of listens. Seriously, maybe it should be our next Eurovision entry.

SOUNDS LIKE: someone sensibly decided that reggae didn’t have to be annoying and mixed the best aspects of it with less boring beats.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: Mindlessly rocking along to a melody, possibly in a stoned haze.
