FIVE WORD REVIEW: 15 lessons from punk’s grandfathers.

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Bad Religion are celebrated luminaries that have permanently etched their names into the punk hall of fame, courtesy of their storied career that spans multiple decades. However, do they really have any left to prove with The Dissent of Man?

Maybe they don’t, but the record is still nothing short of astounding.

Truthfully, The Dissent of Man is a punk rock masterpiece that sees Bad Religion defy time, fashion any maybe even arthritis to remind fans that they are as relevant as ever.

‘The Day The Earth Stalled’ opens the album with the kind of frenetic urgency that can only be summoned from true musical innovators, while `The Resist Stance’ re-affirms the group’s penchant for inspirational and unwavering lyricism.

Meanwhile, ‘Meeting of the Minds’ conveys political undertones and fortitude with galloping drums and a catchy chorus to remarkable effect.

Only album closer, `I Won’t Say Anything’ can be regarded as underwhelming, as Bad Religion exchange their riff-laden intensity for melodic radio rock that only serves to remind listeners that the punk forefathers are in fact human, and not a set of robots programmed to invoke circle pits all over the world.

SOUNDS LIKE: Pennywise, NOFX, The Descendents.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: You skateboard to work, call your Grandma a “dudette” and regularly refer to life’s upsides as being “bodacious”.
