Beatsteaks – Jane Became Insane

NAME: Beatsteaks
SINGLE: Jane Became Insane
DATE: 19July2010

LABEL: Epitaph

RATING: 4/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Ballsy, guttural euro punk rock.

LOCATION: Berlin

LINE UP: Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß (Vocals and Guitar) , Peter Baumann (Guitars, Vocals) , Torsten Scholz (Bass) , Bernd Kurtzke (Guitars) , Thomas Götz (Drums)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Despite the tenuous rhyming this Berlin five-piece are more than guilty of, ‘Jane Became Insane’ is extremely likeable. It has all the stomping, aggressive, European charm of The Hives ‘Walk Idiot Walk’, complete with bizarre operatic harmonies imprinted all over the gritty main vocals.

SOUNDS LIKE: All the bands efforts have been pushed into the Powerful vocal and guitar arrangement, slightly to the detriment of melody and lyric.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: You like Dave Grohl vocals, without the Foo Fighters lyrical qualities.
