Beatsteaks – Limbo Messiah

NAME: Beatsteaks
ALBUM: Limbo Messiah
DATE: 12July2010

LABEL: Warner Music Germany

RATING: 3/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Yet another indie punk band

LOCATION: Berlin, Germany

LINE UP: Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß – Vocals and Guitar / Peter Baumann – Guitars, Vocals / Torsten Scholz – Bass / Bernd Kurtzke – Guitars / Thomas Götz- Drums

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Beatsteaks’ fourth album Limbo Messiah features some high energy tracks that will have you smiling and bobbing your head at first yet once the initial effect has worn off after the first couple of songs the album descends into an Arctic Monkeys copy – very samey indie punk we’ve heard many times before. There are some good ideas here backed by talented musicians, however the album comes off as mediocre in its entirety.

SOUNDS LIKE: Arctic Monkeys; Razorlight; Descendants

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: The heavier side of indie
