Blitz Kids – Scavengers

NAME: Blitz Kids
EP: Scavengers
YEAR: 2010 (April 26th)
LABEL: Unsigned

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Alt-pop catchier than bird flu.

LINE UP: Joe James (vocals) / Jono Yates (guitar/vocals) / Nic Montgomery (bass/vocals) / Billy Evanson (guitar) / Eddie Hawx (drums)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: If you’re at uni and have any sort of social life, you’ve probably seen this band play a blinding gig in town. And complained that it cost a fiver. Ho hum. In a packed little purpose built venue or popular pub, you’ve choked down a gin and thought “Wow, these guys have nailed the happy youth vibe, the carefree choices and mistakes of a sequitered existence”. You’d be right of course. Happily, Blitz Kids make no apologies for this, but nor do they err from a well beaten track trodden and muddied years ago by Dodgy and Supergrass. Not unlike everything you’d generally hear on any commercial radio station. However, all the songs are catchy as hell, the clever bastards, and you’ll be humming ‘Answers In Monaco’ for days. Probably on the way to a lecture. Or skiving said lecture.

SOUNDS LIKE: an utterly irrepressible ode to joyous youth, but a youth you’d call an optimistic prick behind it’s back.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: jumping about and singing with a stupid slap of a smile on your overly made-up facebox.
