Call The Doctor – CTD

NAME: Call The Doctor
MINI ALBUM: CTD
YEAR: 2010 (May 24th)
LABEL: Glasstone
RATING: 3/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Straight up girl punk rock

LOCATION: Bristol, UK

LINE UP: Patti Aberhart (vocals/guitar) / Robert Hallworth (guitar/vocals) / Chris Davis (bass) / John Raftery (drums)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Sharing a moniker with a Sleater-Kinney record instantly conjures up images of confused girls with smudged lip stick and a handful of chords, but fortunately there’s more to this Bristol based band. ‘CTD’, their Paul Tipler (Elastica, Idlewild, Forward Russia) produced is out next week.

SOUNDS LIKE: It’s difficult to not compare them to every successful female fronted band from the 90s, however their direction is clear: no frills, straight up girl rock. ‘CTD’ is full of fun riffs, cheeky lyrics and bags of charm.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: Blondie, Kasms and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
