Receiving a CD single titled ‘I Miss You Cos It’s Monday,’ by an artist going by the alias of Captain Dangerous is not the most inspiring post to consider over your Branflakes. As the old cliché says though, you can’t judge a book by its cover – or in this case a band by their name.
With the off-kilter pop sensibilities of The Levellers and the lyrical nuance of Arctic Monkeys, Captain Dangerous are on course to make a giant splash into the mainstream pool and cause a tsunami of sensation throughout the British music scene. In fact, with their melodic vocals and elegant string compliments, the Nottingham four-piece may well breathe some life into an industry that at best can be described as, on its arse!
With a whole-hearted sing-along-chorus and contemplative verse lines, ‘I Miss You Cos It’s Monday,’ offers multi-dimensional expression encased in a shroud of brightly shining glory. Pleasant guitar pickings accompany gritty spoken vocals and wispy laments that include the all encompassing thought on everybody’s mind: ‘If it were Monday everyday I think I’d kill myself.’ How can anybody not endear themselves to that!
