Cloud Control – Meditation Song no. 2 (Why Oh Why)

NAME: Cloud Control
SINGLE: Meditation Song no. 2 (Why Oh Why)
DATE: 12July2010

LABEL: Ivy League

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Trippy, swirly, blissed-out vibes

LOCATION: Australia

LINE UP: Alister Wright (guitar/lead vocals), Jeremy Kelshaw (bass) Heidi Lenffer (keyboards/vocals) and Ulrich Lenffer (drums).

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Hailing from sunny Australia, Cloud Control lovingly create shimmering slices of hot weather and good times in the vein of Brian Wilson and Yeasayer.

‘Meditation Song no. 2 (Why oh Why)’ is being offered as a free taster of upcoming album ‘Bliss Release,’ which if this single is anything to go by will be huge.

Upbeat, echoing vocals evoke a dreamy 60s sound, not unlike Jefferson Airplane, floating around buzzing guiitars and handclaps (which don’t at any point become irritating – a triumph). The track showcases the very best noise that Cloud Control can muster; an updated twist on a tried and true sound that builds into a gloriously blissed-out crescendo of happy noise.

‘Meditation Song no. 2…’ is the perfect antidote to or tempremental weather; rush hour in the rain will feel like a party on a beach somewhere with this in your ears. Well. Almost.

SOUNDS LIKE: The Beach Boys, The Shins, Animal Collective

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: your idea of a good time is relaxing in the sunshine without a care in the world.
