Curry & Coco – Sex is Fashion

NAME: Curry & Coco
SINGLE: Sex is Fashion
YEAR: 2010 (May 10th)
LABEL: Peermusic

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Cheesy art school disco anthem.

LOCATION: Lille, France

LINE UP: Thomas Priem (drums & backing vocals) / Sylvain Przybylski (vocals & synthesizers )

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Pop de Danse is how the French duo describe their own sound, and this goes a long way to hitting the nail squarely on the head. From the first striking chords through to the final beat, this song is dripping in dance floor bopping disco rhythms and sickly sweet synth interludes. Somewhere between Blondie and the Scissor Sisters, this single is likely to galvanise opinion right away. Fans will adore this release, yet others may find its overtly poppy pout a little bit too bright. A good example of exactly what it claims to be, Pop de Danse. The excellent B-side ‘Who’s Next’ and two good remixes will make the appeal much wider to those interested in their sound.

SOUNDS LIKE: Blondie, Scissor Sisters, Art House Junior Senior.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: Handbag friendly disco pop, skinny jeans & thick rimmed specs, sweaty small venues, and being the first on the dance floor.
