NAME: Dead Town Radio
SINGLE: Hey
YEAR: 2010 (April 12th)
LABEL: Unsigned
RATING: 4/5
FIVE WORD REVIEW: Refreshing, honest, danceable indie frolics.
LOCATION: London, UK
LINE UP: Dominic Otero (vocals) / Gavin Bilbe (guitar/synth) / Alex Sagba-Brady (drums) / Ben Taylor (bass)
WHAT’S THE STORY?: This debut from the London four piece gets off to a strong start: ‘Hey’ is a more than respectable indie anthem with fierce guitars, a catchy synth, and more than a hint of Bowie in Dominic Otero’s undeniably strong vocals. There’s slightly less gusto and originality to be found in ‘Curtain Call’, but it will nevertheless get boots in motion at an indie disco near you, and not undeservedly.
SOUNDS LIKE: An infectious mixture of the bands that made 2005 such a great year for Indie music: The Killers, Kasabian, Steriogram, The Libertines.
YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: Regaining the faith in British guitar bands who don’t sound like they were constructed in a factory like a piece of flat pack furniture.
