Exalt Cycle – Evasion Therapy

NAME: Exalt Cycle
EP: Evasion Therapy
YEAR: 2010 (May 17th)
LABEL: Unsigned
RATING: 3/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Milan metalcore makes me mew.

LOCATION: Milan, Italy

LINE UP: Zack (vocals) / Wolve (guitar) / Keinez (bass) / Balo (drums)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Good ol’ Euro-metal has been having a bit of a resurgence over recent years, crashing into the continent’s consciousness perhaps more than ever before. The plethora of nu-metal groups and constantly touring heavy heavies has made it harder and harder to stand out from the crowd – and although Exalt Cycle certainly try hard enough with their crunching guitars and thrashing licks, this all sounds far too familiar. Yes, it’s brutal at times, but it’s nothing Slipknot ain’t done years ago. The highlight here is ‘Made To Measure’, a good little rocker with a bit of a tune thrown in for good ‘measure’. Apart from that, it’s pretty decent to knock your front room about to, but not interesting enough for genuine metalbonces.

SOUNDS LIKE: Bullet For My Valentine, if they had an eye on a bit of posturing.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: sweaty screamy metal, that may be a little too polished to really feel like it’s a rebellious statement. Basically, ‘nu’ numetallers’ll love it.
