Fenech-Soler – Fenech-Soler

NAME: Fenech-Soler
ALBUM: Fenech-Soler
DATE: 28September2010

LABEL: B-Unique

FIVE WORD REVIEW: See you at the disco.

LOCATION: Kings Cliffe, Northampton

LINE UP: Ben Duffy, Daniel Soler, Ross Duffy & Andrew Lindsay

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Fenech-Soler’s self titled album is exciting… really bloody exciting. The first fifteen seconds of the album set the tone, and that tone is pop. If you’re not dancing by the second track then you’re not doing it right. The first track ‘Battlefields’ has an amazingly kitsch 90s boy band feel to the vocals but the synths and hand claps restore all of its 80s dance creditability. This is what the hoosiers would sound like, if they were any good. Hipsters of the nation rejoice, this is the start of a beautiful friendship.

If you got a real buzz from the exciting debuts of Foals and Friendly Fires this could cause you to spontaneously combust.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: Britains answer to Fun. , the band not the concept – fast witty lyricism with 1980s flare.
