Gaslight Anthem – American Slang

NAME: Gaslight Anthem
SINGLE: American Slang
YEAR: 2010 (May 24th)
LABEL: Sideonedummy
RATING: 4/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Road trips and leather jackets.

LOCATION: New Jersey

LINE UP: Brian Fallon (vocals) / Alex Rosamilia (guitars) / Alex Levine (bass) / Benny Horowitz (drums)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Though the lyrics of American Slang aren’t going to provoke any life-affirming revelations, it’s undeniably a great tune. Stomping drums and a very catchy chorus. With a very surprising, very tiny hint of The Pogues Shane MacGowan in the vocals, but thankfully for the boys of Gaslight Anthem there’s no hint of MacGowan’s teeth.
