Insidious Disease – Shadowcast

NAME: Insidious Disease
ALBUM: Shadowcast
DATE: 12July2010

LABEL: Century Media

FIVE WORD REVIEW: The opposite of genre defying.

LINE UP: Jardar, Silenoz, Marc Grewe, Shane Embury, Tony Laureano

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Wouldn’t it be an exciting surprise to find out that a band called Insidious Disease were an indie folk outfit from Dorset… Well no such surprises here, Insidious Disease are as you would expect unadulterated metal. Though in a refreshing change for death metal, there is some sort of melody to the guitars, albeit underneath the obligatory laryngitis-inducing shouting, squealing like a pig, and look-at-me speed drumming.

SOUNDS LIKE: (in the bands own words) “bash-your-face-in heaviness glazed with a gush of blood”, though it’s actually a little bit more ‘hurt-your-ears-a-bit showiness lightly coated in hair conditioner’

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: you like the genre; it is pretty incomprehensible that anyone could listen to this album and suddenly sell everything in their record collection that didn’t have death somewhere in the title. Perhaps you have to be born with an innate love of metal music… and if you are one such metallic individual, congratulations. You’re going to love this album.
