Jack Rabbit Slim – Hairdo’s & Heartaches

NAME: Jack Rabbit Slim
ALBUM: Hairdo’s & Heartaches
YEAR: 2010 (March 22nd)
LABEL: Western Star Records
RATING: 2/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: One Elvis drawl too many.

LOCATION: Herts, Northampton, Birmingham, Kent.

LINE UP: Bob Butfoy (singer) Paul Saunders (drummer) Darren Lince (guitarist) Landon Filer (bassist).

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Bonded by a shared passion for ’50s rockabilly, vertiginous quiffs and The King himself – the hip-swivelling quartet could well have pinched their moniker from the iconic bar in Pulp Fiction.

SOUNDS LIKE: Despite obviously musical flair, a very poor man’s Elvis tribute band – why must British outfits insist on warbling in an American accent? Putting an authentic local slant on rockabilly (see Glasvegas) would have been so much more appealing.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: Jailhouse Rock and Back To The Future, but have misplaced the soundtracks.
