Let’s Go To War – Life We Live

NAME: Let’s Go To War
EP: Life We Live
YEAR: 2010 (January 25th)
LABEL: Last Gang Records
RATING: 4/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Get your party hat on!

LOCATION: Canada

LINE UP: Peter-John, DJ Cirkut

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Big name producers give it their all for debut album ‘Karmageddon’ and this is just a tasty peek at what’s on the way.

SOUNDS LIKE: First offering from this three-track EP is ‘Life We Live’ and it succeeds in completely deconstructing contemporary music, sticking a middle finger up its arse, and claiming new territory. A gothic electro punk stormer, it’s full of broken beats, mangled synth and growling bass. Jumping from camp to camp it robs elements of absolutely everything like a thrifty magpie. ‘Burn Down The Disco’ follows in the same vein, but fails to inspire as much. Think Outkast with a Justice backing track and your somewhere near. And then out of nowhere explodes ‘The Whole City’s Got A Cold’ , a mutilated monster of crunk, dubstep and rap; it lumbers at a fatally slow speed, destroying all in it’s path.

This is seriously good fun. This is seriously good party music. I can’t stress this enough. These guys mean war.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: Heavy parties, huge beats and bass, haunting tales of city excess.
