MiMi Soya – I Can’t Stand Pop Bands

NAME: MiMi Soya
EP: I Can’t Stand Pop Bands
YEAR: 2010 (June 14th)

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Youthful exuberance from Brighton pop-punkers

LOCATION: Brighton, UK

LINE UP: Jorja (vocals) / Chris (guitar) / Mike (bass) / Joe (drums)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: MiMi Soya: young, beautiful, fun. Great big shiny things that you liked to play with as a scampering wee-un. The songs are entertaining and energetic, Jorja’s voice is powerful enough to match the raucous racket made by the lads, and this EP should be on your MP3 player for that sweat-sodden coach trip you promised your Nan in a rare moment of spring sobriety. Yeah, it’s all a bit synthetic and bright, but it’s the summer – lighten up, you dullard!

SOUNDS LIKE: another band that loves the big rock-pop thang, but this has a little more to it. MiMi Soya are bright and inviting, entertaining and summery, and youthful without sounding immature. It’s not sophisticated, but neither are you.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: very catchy tracks that are radio-friendly, in the best way possible.
