Noisia – Split The Atom

NAME: Noisia
ALBUM/SINGLE: Split The Atom
YEAR: 2010 (April 5th)
LABEL: Vision/Division
RATING: 4/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Smashing, ear blowing, technical masterpieces

LOCATION: Gronigen, Holland

LINE UP: Nik Roos, Thijs de Vlieger and Martijn van Sonderen.

WHAT’S THE STORY?: The award winning dutch trio’s creations have gained a massive underground following with fans such as Pendulum and Zane Lowe screaming their praises. High profile remixes for Moby, Hadouken! and the Prodigy haven’t hurt either. Lead single ‘Machine Gun’ opens the action perfectly, with a funky theme melting down to some ear blowing D&B. The samples are varied and expertly produced and the build ups as dramatic as they come. Each tune on this album tells a different story spelled out in chapters of dirty bass and fresh beats reaching into the worlds of both electro and breaks. Guest vocals from Giovanca, Foreign Beggars, Amon Tobin and Joe Seven slip sweetly into tunes such as the spacy ‘My World’ and brutal ‘Shellshock’. The CD is finely finished off with the impressive ‘Square Feet’, constructed to slowly wean you from a hard beating dancefloor to a chilled out mindset.

SOUNDS LIKE:, Black Sun Empire, Phace, Pendulum

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: Boshing D&B, varied sampling, break/electro influences.
