Oscar Charlie – Oscar Charlie

NAME: Oscar Charlie
EP: Oscar Charlie
DATE: 7June2010

LABEL: SubAudio Records

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Brilliant band – have a listen!

LINE UP: Reuben Quinn – Vocals, Guitars; Jim Bevington – Bass; Atli Mar Bjornsson – Synths; Tom Hoare – Drums

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Oooh, promising! Oscar Charlie have just brought out their new EP and the lead track, Hello Chrono, seems to be a really well-balanced mix of instrumentation with excellent and interesting lyrics. And who doesn’t love bands that manage to pull off singing in their regional accents? As Hello Chrono kicks in, you will doubtless find yourself bopping along feeling the fab mixture of racing, uplifting bassline and rocky guitars. Between the Stirrup and the Ground is another rocking track that will hold your attention from beginning to end. There’s definitely something of the Kings of Leon in here, but that shouldn’t deter you – everyone has their influences, and there’s certainly enough individuality in Oscar Charlie for them to be more than a band that sounds like someone else. Really great tracks.

SOUNDS LIKE: A bit like Kings of Leon. But not quite. A bit like Blur. But not quite. A bit like the Killers. But not quite. Oh, the hell with it; they’re just them.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: Brit rock that keeps you listening all the way through and wanting to know all the lyrics.
