FIVE WORD REVIEW: Losing your touch already, boys?

LINE UP: Rob Swire / Gareth McGrillen / Paul Harding / Ben Mount / Perry ap Gwynedd / Kevin “KJ” Sawka

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Having helped propel the bastardised genre of electro-rock into the charts since their beginnings in 2003, Pendulum are now onto their third album. Known for their variety of remixes – ranging from Metallica to Calvin Harris to Coldplay – the sextet have more than proven their ambidextrous creativity. With major festival headline slots under their belts, it’s no wonder they’ve stirred up bit of a storm.

SOUNDS LIKE: a horribly weak version of their stonking ‘Tarantula’. Dull vocal lines lead into a replica of some dodgy power metal riff. Their trademark huge dynamics are severely lacking, aside from a tired middle eight section. Maybe this is a tiny slip up, or perhaps their running out of ideas. The album, ‘Immersion’, is released on 24th May. That’ll give some more clues as to whether Pendulum have swung their final time.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: Pendulum a lot. Casual fans won’t be overly impressed.
