Saving J – Indication Street

NAME: Saving J
SINGLE: Indication Street
YEAR: 22nd March 2010
LABEL: Can Can Recordings
RATING: 3/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Nice enough, doesn’t stand out.

LOCATION: Ireland, UK

LINE UP: Sean Redmond (vocals, guitar) / Liam Redmond (lead guitar) / Eamon Mc Evoy (bass) / Paul Hindle (drums, vocals)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: This is the fourth single from the Irish quartet’s debut album ‘This City Street’, due out in the summer.

SOUNDS LIKE: early 90s American garage indie. A-side ‘Indication Street’ is a catchy blast of singalong backing vocals and predictable chord progressions. Meanwhile the B-side ‘Broken Trees’ is a thoroughly more delicate and eerie affair. Vocalist Sean Redmond bears a resemblance to Michael Stipe, which is something that will no doubt work Saving J’s favour.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: inoffensive indie stylings.
