Subsource – The Ides

NAME: Subsource
SINGLE: The Ides
YEAR: 2010 (March 29th)
LABEL: Doombox records
RATING: 4/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Electro-punks offer something different

LOCATION: London, UK

LINE UP: Stu Henshall, Paul Frazer, Dennis Ng, Neil Shervell

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Four-piece band established in 2006, offering a fresh take on loud attitude-laden electronic music. They will draw comparisons with the Prodigy and Pendulum but their use of dubstep-tinged basslines hint at a band prepared to push boundaries in a fresh direction. ‘The Ides’ is polished with complex production but it is perhaps too polished. Some analogue dirtyness to filth it up a bit wouldn’t go amiss.

SOUNDS LIKE: The Prodigy’s attitude meets the amen breaks of Pendulum and ejaculates an obese dubstep bassline all over your face.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE: Wobbly basslines, rollin amen breaks, angry noisy vocals
