Talk to Angels – Enemies

NAME: Talk to Angels
ALBUM: Enemies
DATE: 1October2010

LABEL: Warp Speed Carousel

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Join the dots pop/rock schlock

LOCATION: Bradford, England

LINE UP: Craig Kaye (vocals/guitar), Chris Robbins (bass), Jamie Lofthouse (drums), Micky Dale (synths)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: Bradford boys (And the keyboardist from Embrace) let rip with a new single in support of their upcoming E.P and autumn tour.

SOUNDS LIKE: This starts strongly with an excellent chiptune inspired hook, which hints we might be treated to some cool mature electro. Whoops. No. Denied. About ten seconds in the vocals open up and everything comes crashing down in a dreary lazy blur. Sounding like a bargain basement Killers tribute act, this is lazy, Ikea flat-pack, pop-rock with a sprinkling of electro to give it that ‘Indie’ feel. The real insult being that the synth work is genuinely intriguing, but utterly wasted when attached to the rest of this rot.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: You’ve heard it all before and want to hear it all again.
