WHAT’S THE STORY?: Often described as “survivors” as success has often sat next to adversity in their 22 year career, The Charlatans have bounced back every time. However, is ‘Who We Touch’ the first sign of them running out of steam?

SOUNDS LIKE: It’s typical Charlatans, but it’s missing a bit of zip. You’ve got the dark vocals, big melodies and pop sensibilities, but, as displayed in opener and single ‘Love Is Ending’, just as the song reaches its high points, they shy away. The melancholic ‘Oh’ is the highlight of non-eventful album.
